This oral appliance is available in the marketplace with two different thermoplastic impression materials, i.e. SomnoGuard SP Soft and SomnoGuard SP Hard. The latter oral appliance has excellent retention characteristics known so far only from custom-made oral devices being many times more expensive.
Specific features:
- Compact for a high comfort of use
- Incremental advancement of the lower jaw from about -3 to +10 millimeters
- Especially SomnoGuard SP Hard provides excellent retention
- Very low bite opening characterised by the distance of the incisors, i.e. 2 to 3 millimeters only

Tomed's mandibular advancement devices to treat primary snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea in adults are CE marked for unlimited distribution throughout the E.U. member states. Apart from the new SomnoGuard SP series all appliances are 510(k) cleared by the FDA in the U.S. under the clearance no. K061688. Preparation of the FDA application regarding the new SP series is now on its way.
